Roster101 uses a structured, multi-level approach to rostering, allowing you to organise your workforce in a way that reflects real operational needs.

Instead of a flat roster, shifts are built using three key levels:

Level One: Location

Defines where the work takes place. A site, department, or business unit.

Level Two: Role

Defines the type of work being performed.

Level Three: Requirement

When needed, Requirement allows you to define a specific task, responsibility, or variation within that role.

Why this matters

This structure allows you to:

  • Assign the right people to the right work with greater accuracy

  • Apply different requirements across locations and roles

  • Manage complex operations without overcomplicating your roster

  • Maintain consistency while still allowing flexibility

  • Avoid breaching Health and Safety or legislative requirements

Built-in control

Each level can include its own conditions, such as:

  • Certifications or qualifications

  • Role-specific requirements

  • Availability and deployment rules

This ensures that staff are assigned only where they meet the necessary criteria.

Real-world flexibility

Whether you are managing a small team or a large, multi-site operation, the system scales with you.

You can keep it simple — or build out detailed structures to match more complex environments.
